Knowledge Gap: The impact of science on our lives has never been more profound and the dissemination of scientific research has reached epic proportions. However, the public's understanding of science has not kept pace with these developments. SER aims to reverse this trend by communicating basic scientific principles and methods effectively and coherently.
The Scientific Method: Our aim is to develop the public's understanding of the scientific method, critical thinking and logical reasoning. We propose to equip laymen with the tools required to distinguish between valid science and pseudoscience.
Science Educators Support Network: With the proliferation of anti-scientific bias, science educators often face an uphill struggle with insufficient resources. SER is committed to developing a support network dedicated to providing assistance to those science educators working in difficult environments.
A Database of Interviews: SER is developing a comprehensive and freely accessible database of interviews with scientists working in neuroscience, physics, biochemistry and many other fields - as well as with historians of science and science writers.
Donations: SER's programs are financed through generous contributions from people like you who believe that the promotion of science literacy is of vital importance. Contributions are tax deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Code.
